Final Report

Falconry

Falcons play an important role in the history of the Arab peoples and civilization authentic and ancient heritage. In the Arab Gulf states, since the man knew this unique birds and their types. It became a symbol of strength and greatness, patience and courage and the severity of the Gulf peoples of this impressive bird, it has been circulated, spread, met and became a popular slogan for many Arab countries and became it inherited an authentic heritage.

I interviewed my grand Father Mohamed Salem Al Marrar. According to what he said, before the United Arab Emirates was established and the discovery of the oil and civilization, falconry was the best type of hunting by the Bedouins to survive in the desert. They hunted rabbits, Reem Ghazal, hobaras, karwan and other types of birds. In the old days hunting expeditions took place in the area that they lived in, way of transportation was by foot, camels and only the wealthy tribe leaders had horses, it took days to reach the destination.
Nowadays, HH Sheikh Zayed God blesses his soul supporting this tradition and tried to enhance it for a reason that is not to stop this tradition. Falconry is considered a sport where competition is conducted, where people socialize and compete against each other for first place, prices reached around 90,000 to 250,000 Dirhams and cars were also given as a prize to the first places. On the other hand, this sport developed to a grate extend where cars are used to follow the falcons and people conduct expeditions in Saudi, Pakistan, Sudan and Syria etc…, tracking radars are used also where a radar is sticked to the back of the falcon that locates the falcon if it fly’s away.

In conclusion falconry evolved from a way of surviving and living into a hobby participating in falconry events.

Case Study Reflection

                         Part 1

I worked within a group of three, Mohamed Obaid, Hassan Hadi and me. The reason I worked in a group is that the assignment requirement is to be in a group, because it teaches the students to communicate, divide work and maximize the opportunity of good quality outcome, which will help in a future job. The Armed Forces Officers Club is the best candidate among the rest in Abu Dhabi. It has the best facilities where a variety of activities are available there for example tennis court, Olympic pool, gym, shooting range, also an indoor and outdoor soccer court.
The information gathering started by getting the permission to take photos &  videos of the club and interview the staff members  by preparing couple of questions that we needed to know more about the AFO Club (Armed Forces Officers Club) facilities. Work was divided among us. Each one had a chance to interview a member of the AFO Club.

Part 2

We found out a couple of interesting things after interviewing each staff member. We learned more about the history of the club and when did it start. Also, annual competitions that are organized by the club and by groups of people by themselves. The answers were generally as I expected, but actually the people that we interviewed answered the questions intelligently and gave us the information that we were looking for in this project.
The AFO Club is the best reflection of this course, where it accommodates with the facilities that are provided by the Club. Sport activities are available in a wide variety; in terms of leisure, it’s the best place to spend time if there is nothing to do, because coffee shops and restaurants are available and it’s  also great to socialise with people.

Part 3

Before considering the video that was captured it’s important to note that we didn’t have the finest equipment to get the best audio quality in the short video that we made. This problem affected the video in a dramatic way, where it was hard to hear what we talked about and made the video less interesting to be seen by the teacher and the students. We tried downloading software’s but didn’t have much difference in the quality. So in my point of view the skill that we mostly needed was the experience to handle camera equipment in a professional way to get better results.
In my opinion, this case study will not take any action on the organization in any way. If I had the chance to do this case study again a couple of things would be changed. First of all, meeting arrangements with the club staff will be done ahead of a time and at the same time if I had the chance to interview a club member it will be great to see their point of view on the club. In addition to get microphones to record the audio in a better quality. Despite that everything was going according to plan and I enjoyed the experience.
